Date: April 22, 2026
Place: , Barcelona - Spain
Description of the event:
The workshop explores how the EU seafood market has adapted to three major shocks over the past five years: COVID-19, Brexit, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. COVID-19 disrupted demand and logistics, Brexit introduced structural trade frictions and fisheries management adjustments, and the war in Ukraine created disruptions across the value chain. Despite these challenges, the sector has shown remarkable resilience through diversification, digitalisation, and growing demand for sustainable, traceable products.
The session will highlight lessons on market adaptation, the role of policy and innovation, and emerging opportunities for building a stronger, more resilient EU seafood sector. It will also present the latest EUMOFA study: Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Brexit and the Russian War of Aggression against Ukraine on the EU Fishery and Aquaculture Sector, available for download here.
The workshop is free and open to all, and the list of panellists will be announced soon. The EUMOFA team will also be at Hall 4, Stand 4D705 throughout the three-day Expo, demonstrating new website features and dashboards, and offering hands-on guidance on EUMOFA tools and services.
