This project was approved in 2010 and is at the heart of the POCTEFEX programme. It is integrated in the Action Plan for establishing and consolidating the Mediterranean Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve. Along with the Moroccan authorities, development and consolidation actions were carried out to the protected natural spaces in the south of Andalusia and north Morocco, as well as actions to improve environmental and socio-economic balance between the two coasts.
One of the actions was the creation of a cross-border route, including some Andalusian natural parks and the Talassemtane national park in Morocco.
Furthermore, environmental education actions were taken with the objective of promoting sustainable development and conservation-based values, as well as actions to boost marketing products, creating guides and improving infrastructures designed to promote eco-tourism.
