The 10th Meeting of the UfM Working Group on Blue Economy took place in person in Brussels and online, on 23 March 2022. The meeting aimed at:
i) Presenting and exchanging on the draft Roadmap for the implementation of the UfM Ministerial Declaration on Sustainable Blue Economy adopted on February 2nd, 2021.
ii) Sharing the calendar of key events due to take place this year, in particular the Conference on Blue Finance taking place in Barcelona on June 22nd (EC Conference in collaboration with the UfM)
iii) Discussing updates and synergies among countries and stakeholders on ongoing activities related to sustainable aspects of the blue economy in the Mediterranean, including the European Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030 and its specific Mediterranean Lighthouse on Marine Pollution; The capitalization phase of the Plastic Busters Initiative and coastal wetlands, as well as related policy papers; Maritime Spatial Planning in the Mediterranean; Shared methods and tools for relaunching a sustainable post COVID-19 tourism model and the related UfM/CPMR publication. Updates on the Mediterranean Coastguards Function Forum, which will take place in Naples at the end of September, were also presented.
iv) Presenting upcoming opportunities for collaboration, including in the context of the launch of ENI CBC Med Capitalization projects, 2021-2027 Interreg NEXT, and Interreg Euro-MED 2021-2027 and its Governance axis. Maritime safety and security of blue economy activities in the Mediterranean, and upcoming CINEA calls and ongoing activities were also discussed.
