MT-Europe has actively been engaged in both research and practical aspects of
sustainable tourism and urban development, contributing to various projects, programs, and
initiatives, organizing Climathon in Matera-Italy ( European
Capital of Culture 2019) since 2017 focusing on sustainable tourism practices. These sessions bring
together experts, practitioners, and city officials to discuss best practices, case studies, and tools
for fostering sustainable tourism. Workshops cover topics such as sustainable mobility, heritage
preservation, waste management, and community engagement. These sessions facilitate knowledge
transfer and equip cities with actionable insights to integrate sustainable tourism principles into
their urban planning.
