Description of the event:
The WestMED National event in Mauritania will take place on January 20-21, 2025 in Nouakchott. This will be organised together with the WestMED supported CALLMEBLUE project that aims to strengthen cluster alliances in the Mediterranean.
General objective
The general objective of this 2-day event is to discuss the major challenges
relating to the promotion of the blue economy in Mauritania, to identify
solutions in the form of ideas for national and regional projects, and to
define the broad guidelines of the national blue economy strategy.
Specific objectives
The specific objectives of this event are:
- To present the WestMed Initiative and its technical Assistance Mechanism, the progress made particularly in terms of identifying and supporting blue economy projects;
- Present the state of progress in setting up the Mauritanian maritime cluster;
- Present the main projects currently being implemented as part of the WestMED initiative, in particular the CALLMEBLUE project;
- To support cooperation and dialogue between stakeholders in the blue economy in Mauritania and other experts from the north and south of the Mediterranean;
- Identify ideas for national and regional projects to be submitted to the Arab Economic Summit;
- Define the broad outlines of the national blue economy strategy.
The objectives of the CALLMEBLUE workshop on day 1 are:
- To raise awareness of the relevance of Maritime clusters as key actors for a sustainable blue economy
- To enhance cooperation between actors from the south and north through the organization of specific tailor-made local action
- To promote the capacity-building program to encourage stakeholders to participate
