On 4 September 2025, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries hosted the MSPglobal Online Conference: 2.0 Closing & 3.0 Kick-off. You can now download the event report here.
The conference provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of MSPglobal 2.0 and to look ahead to the next project phase: MSPglobal 3.0.
Highlights included the launch of the new MSPglobal Rapid Assessment Methodology and several new MSP sources, such as the guides on the biodiversity inclusive principle and the climate-smart principle, as well as new data toolboxes on spatial data infrastructures and ocean observations. Two volumes on engaging the offshore wind sector were also released.
Looking forward, the event set the course for MSPglobal 3.0, which will deliver additional guidelines on land-sea interactions, two new data toolboxes on cumulative impact assessment and spatial scenarios, as well as a volume on the engagement of the aquaculture sector.
