Frederick University is committed to UN Sustainable Development Goals through its strategic mission.

We sit in an Island State surrounded by a sea region of great conflicts and challenges, with the 11th largest merchant fleet globally and the 3rd largest in Europe, the largest third-party ship management centre in Europe and in top 3 world wide.

Firmly established in the local market, the Department of Maritime Transport & Commerce seeks to be among the world’s leading 21st century maritime-focused educational providers that embodies rigorous, well-rounded and highly specialised academic programmes.

We undertake research in collaboration with the Departments of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Architecture, Electrical & Computer Engineering and Informatics, Education, Psychology & Social Sciences, Business and Law. Smart Urban Coastal and Marine Sustainability are at the core of our research, curricula, networks and international and local actions.

We work closely with the Municipality of Limassol and blue economy stakeholders to find innovative solutions to sector challenges and provide a bridge between young entrepreneurs, researchers and business. Together with the Municipality, we have founded the Blue Limassol Forum; a platform to engage citizens and stakeholders in transparent decision making, balancing development, environment and wellbeing.
