UJEM works to create a dynamic and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem that empowers young Mauritanians to launch and grow their businesses across various sectors, including blue economy, digital innovation, agriculture, renewable energy, and sustainable development. The organization collaborates with public and private stakeholders, as well as international partners, to promote business-friendly policies, enhance skills development, and facilitate market access for startups and SMEs. Key Objectives 1. Empower Young Entrepreneurs – Providing training, mentorship, and funding guidance to help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into successful businesses. 2. Promote Innovation and Sustainability – Encouraging business models that integrate green and blue economy principles for long-term environmental and economic impact. 3. Strengthen Business Networks – Connecting young entrepreneurs with investors, institutions, and global markets to expand their reach and business opportunities. 4. Support Policy Advocacy – Engaging with policymakers to improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem and create a more favorable business climate for youth-led enterprises. Involvement in the Blue Economy UJEM actively supports initiatives in the blue economy, recognizing the potential of marine and coastal resources for sustainable economic development in Mauritania. The organization promotes projects in areas such as: • Sustainable Fisheries & Aquaculture – Enhancing value chains, promoting responsible fishing practices, and supporting fish farming innovations. • Marine Waste Management & Recycling – Encouraging startups focused on ocean plastic cleanup and marine ecosystem protection. • Eco-Tourism & Coastal Development – Supporting businesses that leverage Mauritania’s coastal assets while preserving biodiversity. • Renewable Marine Energy – Exploring opportunities in offshore wind and tidal energy to diversify the country’s energy mix. By joining the Mediterranean Blue Economy Stakeholder Platform, UJEM aims to expand its network, engage in knowledge-sharing, and build strategic partnerships to drive sustainable economic growth in Mauritania and beyond.
