Description of the event:
Nausicaá and Ciência Viva are organising a session about ocean literacy and sustainable aquaculture at the Aquaculture Europe 2021 Ocean of Opportunities annual congress. The congress is a place where hundreds of professionals from the entire sector meet and this year they will gather in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, from 4 to 7 October. The AE2021 will also feature an international trade exhibition, industry forum, student sessions and activities, satellite workshops and updates on EU research.
The session From Fishing to Farming: Aquaculture in Ocean Literacy will assemble science educators, scientists and representatives of the aquaculture industry to reveal some of the most inspiring “stories”, to explore best practice in communicating about sustainable aquaculture and to understand how this hot topic can be dealt with in a balanced way while addressing pupils, students and the general public. How can we improve the acceptance of sustainable aquaculture products by the Europeans? Using the example of inspiring science communication projects, programmes and ocean literacy tools dedicated to sustainable aquaculture, we will discuss this question.
In the context of this event, the EC is looking for high quality oral presentations of successful and inspiring examples of ocean literacy initiatives, projects, tools and communication campaigns about sustainable aquaculture. Abstracts requesting oral presentation must be submitted before the 1st May 2021 deadline here to have a chance to be selected for oral presentation.
Instructions for preparation of abstracts are here.
