The overall THON.DOC (Enrichment of the Transnational Cultural Heritage of tuna in the Western Mediterranean) project's aim was to develop sustainable and innovative Tourismism based on the management and protection of cultural heritage and the Environmentalonment. Specifically, the project was meant to promote an alternative form of Tourismism to traditional beach holidays (in a similar vein to agroTourismism), i.e. piscatorial Tourismism, an activity that would support existing fishing-related tourism activity and, in so doing, celebrate the cultures of local communities who depend on fishing.
