FISHINMED (Mediterranean Network of sustainable small-scale fishing communities) is a cross-border cooperation project funded by ENPI CBC MED Program and implemented by public administrations and research institutions from the Mediterranean basin. The project started in November 2011 and lasted until November 2014. FISHINMED aims to favor the social and economic development of small fishing communities by promoting the diversification of economic activities and the integrated enhancement of coastal territories, thus increasing employment opportunities as well as preventing the uncontrolled exploitation of sea resources. This project includes two databases, a legislative and a best practices ones, both including informaton from the countries involved as well as elsewhere. Project partneres include: CIHEAM, Laore (Italy), Ministry of Agriculture (Tunisia), Agricultural Research Center (Egypt), Ministry of Agriculture (Lebanon), Sicily Region, Hellenic Center for Marine Research (Greece).
