The Mediterranean is a very heterogeneous cooperation area identified by
i) diversity of geographical, socio-economic and political contexts that vary significantly from one region to another; ii) cohabitation of a large amount of stakeholders dealing with several dimensions of governance; iii) concentration of various EU and internationally funded programmes, projects, networks, organizations and platforms without a common framework challenging the mainstreaming of results into policy level. Undoubtedly there is a strong need to coordinate different activities and policies contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development and protection of the Mediterranean, by improving institutional capacity of the concerned stakeholders and by involving them and their networks into an effort of integrated discussion and planning at transnational level. In this challenging context, where an effective action requires strong interregional cooperation, arises PANORAMED, whose overall objective is to establish an innovative permanent dialogue and decision making process among national and regional public authorities and stakeholders. The project will reinforce their institutional capacity in the definition of a transnational governance joint framework for the identification and implementation of shared approaches, policies and strategic projects on set themes: COASTAL AND MARITIME TOURISM and MARITIME SURVEILLANCE.
