The PORTA project aimed to overcome the dichotomy between maritime and transport policies and urban/local sustainable development of the areas surroundings the ports, by adopting new planning integrated approaches in the fields of transport, land use, urban environment and local governance. This project, funded by the MED Program was carried out joining partners from five Mediterranean countries (Spain, Italy, France, Greece and Slovenia) to develop a new system of guidelines for integrating regional planning and port management.
