On November 8, 2016, Brussels hosted the second gathering of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Blue Economy Working Group. This event, co-chaired by Jordan and the European Commission, served as a platform for delegates from member countries, along with representatives from various international bodies, to discuss progress and future plans concerning the UfM Ministerial Declaration on the Blue Economy, which was ratified in Brussels in November 2017. Key points of discussion included the transfer of the Virtual Knowledge Centre for the Mediterranean (VKC Med) to the UfM Secretariat, initiatives for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the western Mediterranean, and projects focused on enhancing maritime skills.
