    The PHAROS4MPAs project, coordinated by WWF over the past two years, has explored how Mediterranean MPAs are affected by several maritime sectors, and how the environmental impacts of those sectors can be prevented or minimized.     The BlueMed Start Up Action SEALINES has recently published its final outcome: the feasibility study for a scientific research hub on an integrated green energy system. The StartUp Action focused on assessing the viability of repurposing a decommissioned offshore platform in order to generate green energy.     The UfM strengthens collaborative efforts to address the impacts of pollution together with the UN Environment Program / Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP).     During its last meeting which took place for the very first time in Cairo (Egypt) on 29-30 January 2019, the Joint Monitoring Committee (decision-making body of the ENI CBC Med Programme composed of the representatives of 13 participating countries) approved a list of 41 projects recommended for funding by the Projects Selection Committee.     UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the European Commission launched MSPGlobal, a new global project on maritime spatial planning, on 11 and 12 February at UNESCO Headquarters. The project aims to promote better maritime spatial planning with a view to avoiding conflicts and improving the governance of human activities at sea such as aquaculture, tourism, marine energy, and exploitation of the seabed. The budget allocation for this call is approximately 30M€ (ERDF + IPA).
