News: WWF launches Call for Grants for small-scale fishers in the Mediterranean

A Call for Grants for small-scale fishers in the Mediterranean has been launched by WWF today. The Grants are a way for WWF to support small-scale fisheries on their path towards sustainability by accelerating the use of funding available from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF). Grants are reserved for fishers committed to submitting a Request for Funds to the National Authorities that manage the EMFF.

To increase the number of requests for funds submitted to the EMFF, WWF provides small scale fishers with:

  • upfront capital under the form of a grant (from €5,000 to €20,000), which has to be used as co-financing to EMFF Request for funds managed by EMFF national authorities
  • technical assistance in support of the preparation of the EMFF Request for funds.

Eligible small-scale fishers from Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Greece, who are interested in receiving upfront capital and technical assistance to develop an EMFF Request for funds, are invited to submit project proposals according to the Rules and Criteria of this Call for Grants.

Documents received after 12.00 AM (midnight) of 15 May 2021 will not be considered.

For further information on the grant (forms, requirements, etc), please visit WWF Call for Grants.  Interested fishers can write to applications@wwfmedpo.org or call Mrs Silvia Ritossa, EMFF Grant Coordinator +39 345 889 21 26 (spoken languages: ENG, FR, IT, SP).
