The World Ocean Council is partnering with the City and Port of Barcelona to develop the global Blue Economy hub, which will be based in Barcelona. In celebration of this new collaboration, the World Ocean Council (WOC) alongside its partners will join forces in hosting two high-impact ocean events at the World Trade Center: the new edition of the Sustainable Ocean Summit – SOS 2022, taking place on October 17-18; followed by the launch of the Global Blue Finance Summit – BlueFIN 2022 on October 19.

The UfM is partaking in both events as an Endorsing Partner within the framework of following-up the UfM Blue Finance Conference ‘Investing in a Sustainable Blue Economy in the Mediterranean’, which took place at the Barcelona World Trade Center on June 22nd.
The oceans of the world absorb at least 25% of CO2 emissions produced by human activity, and at the same time, two third’s of the ocean economy’s annual GMP comes from assets that rely directly on healthy ocean conditions. Thus, both events represent an ocean of opportunities for business and development whilst also ensuring a healthy and sustainable oceanic ecosystem.
General registration is open for
the 2022 Sustainable Ocean Summit and Global Blue Finance Summit.
SOS and BlueFIN 2022 attendees can also join OCEANOVATION MEETUP x Barcelona on
20 October, hosted by WOC Key Strategic Partner IMPACT2DAY.
