events event: Mediterranean solutions towards zero pollution impacts on biodiversity and health

Date: June 04, 2021

Place:  Online, -

Description of the event:

This workshop will be held on 4 June 2021 starting at 9 am CET with the active engagement of the partners and associated partners in the Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community of projects and selected international initiatives active in the area.

This online workshop is meant to bring together key players in the fight against marine pollution in the Mediterranean region.  In this workshop, Mediterranean initiatives and institutions will showcase evidence on marine pollution impacts on biodiversity and health, as well as the policy frameworks and governance models currently in place, and they will debate specific solutions and approaches to successfully achieve the transition towards a zero pollution impact on people and the planet, in brief:

  • Marine litter threats for our environment, health and livelihoods,
  • Legislative measures tackling marine litter in Europe and the Mediterranean, and
  • Solutions to reduce marine litter impacts in the Mediterranean.

This online workshop is a unique opportunity to learn about current initiatives and tools to tackle the impact on marine pollution and adopt better practices for a better future for the Mediterranean Biodiversity and people to achieve concrete results with an ecosystem-based approach to biodiversity protection and management in the Mediterranean.

Coordination and knowledge are utterly necessary to build a common path for action. As the current situation with the pandemics is stopping us from organising presential workshops, we will be organizing these online until the situation allows us otherwise.

You can register here to the event. Only participants registered by 1 May 2021 will be receiving the link and instructions to access the online workshop and materials. The workshop will be held in English and will be recorded.
