events event: Smart Specialisation for Sustainable Blue Economy

Date: October 25, 2022

Place:  Hybrid Event (Agios Nikolaos Crete and online), -

Description of the event:

As a direct follow-up from the five brokerage sessions held by DG Mare focusing on Blue Bio-techonology, Marine Renewable Energies, Coastal and Maritime Tourism, Aquaculture and Fishery, DG MARE is organising a hybrid back-to-back event focused on smart specialisation strategies (S3) that promote interregional partnerships and blue economy value chains across borders.

In addition to the outcome of the brokerage sessions, the event will present the recently launched S3 thematic platform for Sustainable Blue Economy, that is being set up by DG MARE in cooperation with DG REGIO, and share with the stakeholders how they can profit of it to improve their capacities to implement S3 strategies and actively participate to interregional S3 partnerships and value chains. Furthermore, the event will be to inform the blue economy stakeholders on opportunities to improve their capacities to implement S3 strategies, to participate in interregional S3 partnerships, and to identify financial opportunities. In this line, DG MARE is also focusing on fostering the active participation of the regions as the key enablers of the quadruple helix, as well as to progress on the creation of synergies with cooperative frameworks such as the sea basin and macro-regional strategies and networks, by sharing S3 concept and the set up of the new thematic platform with non-European and accession countries as well.

The hybrid event will take place on  25th  October 2022 at Agios Nikolaos Crete and online.
