News: 3rd Forum of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean Postponed

The process of the 2020 Forum of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean was initiated last October 2020 with a  questionnaire widely circulated within the Mediterranean MPA community, followed by a series of successful online working groups carried out in November 2020.

Considering the successive postponements that have occurred in the global biodiversity agenda because of the sanitary situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MedPAN, SPA/RAC, WWF, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and their partners have decided to extend by a few months this online consultation phase, essential for the preparation of the post-2020 Roadmap for Mediterranean MPAs, and, thus to postpone  the Virtual Forum Sessions to mid-2021 (initially scheduled from 1 to 5 February 2021).

We will keep you informed in due course of the new dates of the Virtual Forum Sessions during which an advanced version of the post-2020 MPA Roadmap will be presented and discussed with the Mediterranean MPA community. A face-to-face Forum event to finalise the MPA Roadmap is also still scheduled for late 2021 or early 2022 depending on the evolution of the current epidemic situation and related constraints.
