The UfM Co-Presidency and Secretariat are pleased to invite you to the Med Day taking place on 10 June, in Nice (France), in the framework of the 3rd United Nations Conference on Oceans (UNOC-3), hosted by France and convened by the governments of France and Costa Rica.
As part of the official agenda, the UfM-led Segment on Sustainable Blue Economy, titled “Charting the path towards SBE: the Mediterranean leading the way”, will be held from 14:00 to 16:00 CET. This high-level segment will spotlight the Mediterranean as a global frontrunner in advancing a sustainable blue economy—delivering real progress in environmental protection, climate resilience, social equity, and sustainable growth.
You can access the draft agenda here.
The session will take place in person only, at the Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen (CUM) on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, within the Green Zone of the UNOC-3 venue. Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English, French, and Arabic.
Participation is free but requires prior registration through this link.
Bringing a wide range of environmental, economic, and social benefits to the Mediterranean region over the years, the cross-sectoral and multi-stakeholder UfM cooperation on SBE is facilitating the convergence of technical and financial efforts to drive the ‘blue and green’ transition forward; to decarbonize and circularize our sea-based economies; to protect and restore our marine and coastal ecosystems; and to level the playing field, delivering on fairer, more resilient, and healthier livelihoods across the region.
With a focus on deliverables and tangible joint results, the session will also put the spotlight on key achievements/initiatives emerging from the Med cooperation on SBE, as well as to shed light on state-of-the-art solutions and funding mechanisms at national, sub-regional, and regional level, underlining their potential for replicability, scaling up, and capitalization across the basin.
The Med Day will also put the spotlight on the vital role of civil society, youth, and local authorities through dedicated Segments convened by Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and by the Varda Group.
