EcoMarine Malta Ltd is a Malta-based SME working at the intersection of sustainable marine tourism, scientific research, environmental education and marine conservation. Founded in 2018 by a marine biologist and an IT expert, EcoMarine Malta develops and delivers responsible marine tourism experiences that combine wildlife observation, ocean literacy and citizen science, using tourism as a tool to increase knowledge and awareness of the marine environment while contributing to its protection. Alongside its tourism activities, EcoMarine Malta is actively involved in national and European research and innovation projects focusing on cetacean monitoring, passive acoustic monitoring, artificial intelligence applied to marine bioacoustics, marine biodiversity, sustainable blue tourism and environmental education. The company collaborates with universities, research institutes, NGOs, public authorities and private-sector stakeholders in Malta and across the Mediterranean. EcoMarine Malta also develops training and capacity-building activities for tourism professionals, promoting more sustainable, inclusive and environmentally responsible approaches to marine and coastal tourism. Through the integration of research, tourism, education and stakeholder engagement, EcoMarine Malta aims to contribute to a sustainable Blue Economy in which economic activities support marine conservation, scientific knowledge and responsible use of Mediterranean marine resources.
